I cut the flowers out and then today we stuck them onto one big rainbow.
In our world our twin sons have autism and severe learning disabilities. We are always trying to find ideas to entertain, educate, survive and enjoy life with them. This blog is about sharing the ideas we have and the things we get up to!

Flowery Rainbow Activity
Our local park is full of colour at the moment so it occurred to me whilst I was walking the dog there yesterday that we could go and look at the flowers, talk about the colours and take some pictures to make a rainbow! We took A LOT of photos. We got some of every colour although we did have to search quite hard for blue!

Rainbow Rice
This is the main sensory play activity I've made to bring out for our rainbow theme. I've made it before, after the boys were playing with it a lot when first at school, however, I've now learned to fix the colour with vinegar!
....we all enjoy playing with it!
£1.50 Well Spent
Another Charity Shop bargain! I found this foot massager by chance when we stopped off for lunch on our way back from Cornwall at the weekend. I don't think you need to spend hundreds of pounds on 'special needs' toys to get good sensory equipment, just got to keep your eyes open in the right places!

Charlie is doing what I thought he would do with it!

Nature Treasure Basket
We've collected these pine cones recently, some from up on the Blackdowns and some I spotted in the lane down to Charlie's riding school. My mum bought the oyster shells back from France. Charlie likes holding and tapping objects like these and we need something to bring out in quiet moments, so when I spotted this basket in a charity shop today, I figured it would all make a nice natural treasure basket.
I think it will be ever-evolving as things like these tend to get taken off for walks and also,we'll probably keep collecting stuff to add to it!

Playdough Dinosaurs
We did these a couple of weeks ago and I really like how they turned out. I made green playdough and added some green split peas to it to give it some bumpy scaly type texture. We cut out dinosaurs shapes with cutters, made footprints with toy dinosaurs,
and then I made dinosaurs for the boys put 'spikes' onto.

Rainbows
Yay! Finally able to get back on here.....
We are doing a whole load of rainbow stuff at the moment. I've made some toys (not the windmill!) which loosely relate to the rainbow theme to have around the place for the boys to investigate.

They've been well played with already, so I will probably make some more bits and bobs to go with them.
